Ruby Hill Bike Park

Request for Qualifications was advertised to select a General Contractor to build this unique Bike Park. Three teams were selected and the team of GoodLand Construction and Alpine Bike Parks was awarded the project. A challenging and creative process this 3 acre site will be transformed into a high flying, dirt bike racing experience. A combination of both dirt and wooden ramps are to be installed between slopestyle and natural trails, berms and drops. This park will surely be a major attraction in the Denver Park system.

Evergreen Trail Bridge

Twin concrete T’s were designed to make a new connection between the Evergreen Lake Trail and the Town of Evergreen. Built on a 60 degree slope equipment had to be craned down and laborers had to be tied off. The main road going in and coming out of Evergreen needed to be narrowed to one lane for installing the H-Piles and then again to set the Twin T’s. A traffic nightmare! All in all a very challenging project.

Tollgate Creek Trail & Bridge

To continue Aurora's extensive trail system a new connection will be made through the Toll Creek corridor. One mile of a concrete trail will be installed through the existing residential area to Toll Creek where a 220 LF bridge will be built to connect to the other side. Using a concrete center pier in the middle of Toll Creek extensive dewatering and shoring will be necessary to get this 54" caisson out of the ground. To add to this difficult project an "Air Bridge" will have to be designed and built over two gas lines so that the concrete trucks, crane and bridge transport does not do any damage.

Cherry Creek Bridge

To connect the existing bike/pedestrian trails on both sides of Cherry Creek a new Pedestrian/Bike bridge was installed at Kentucky Ave. Using a center pier in the middle of the Cherry Creek two 85 LF prefabricated bridges were used to make the connection. For the pier's structure H-Piles were driven to bedrock and cast-in-place concrete piers with brick veneer built. To complete this connection medians and crosswalks were install on Cherry Creek Dr. South.

North-South Bikeway Improvements

To alleviate the congestion between vehicles and bikers a fly over was designed to bring the bikers underneath. 42 cassions and 610 cubic yards of structure concrete were poured to elevate the roadway so that a tunnel could be put in place. The roadway was then asphalted and the concrete walls faced with 5,000 face feet of veneer flagstone. Lighting top off the pillars and inside the tunnel, concrete sidewalk connected the existing bikeway and then everything was wrapped in new landscape.

McCaslin Underpass

To improve the safety and traffic flow of the bikers and pedestrians in this well used recreation area a 10 ft. by 12 ft. concrete box culvert is used to bring people under the road. New trail connections are designed and improvements to the existing dog park was completed. To accommodate these new changes a new parking lot is built.

Highland Ranch Intersection

To improve traffic flow on this busy intersection a new turn lane was installed. To accommodate this lane a concrete wall was needed as the finished grades pushed back into the existing hillside. To give this structural wall more detail a modular block formliner was used with a concrete stain so as to match the existing walls in the area.
